Description
This is a Pill Bug. I spotted this little fellow on my patio, on its back and struggling to right itself. I used a little stick to help it along when it immediately took on this defensive posture. Its scientific name is Armadillidium vulgare with a variety of common names such as pill bugs, roly polies and doodle bugs to name a few.

We call them 'slaters' in Oz Len. They seem to have a lot of common names and they can be a pest in the garden.
Len Bomba replied:
I'm sure they are garden pests but they are still cute when they curl into a ball like this one. Thanks Elaine!
